The property is one of the few private houses designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott. It was built in 1913, before Scott’s famous design of the British red telephone box and Battersea Power Station.The previous owners of the house, Chris Forsyth and his wife, Sue, lived there for 7 years and spent £200,000 to £300,000 restoring it. As the article on The Wall Street Journal explains, they rebuilt two orangeries and restored the original lead roof. They also restored several outbuildings which had fallen into disrepair.

You can clearly see the design flair of Sir Giles Gilbert Scott in the building.
