Sir George Gilbert Scott was born on 13 July 1811. Scott was the son of a cleric and the grandson of Thomas Scott. From an early age, Sir George Gilbert Scott showed a keen interest in architecture, buildings, and structure. In 1833, he did his first work on a vicarage for his father in Wappenham, Northamptonshire. This ignited a passion in him that would lead to some of the best-known landmarks in Britain today.

“200 Years Since the Birth of George Gilbert Scott” celebrates the life of Sir George Gilbert Scott. It starts with a photo of St Pancras station, one of Scott’s most famous projects. The photo is succeeded by a recent image of the same station today.
The third image in the slideshow is an illustration that depicts The Chapter House of Westminster Abbey, prior to the restoration work overseen by Scott. Two illustrations of Scott are shown in the slideshow. Moving through it, we see an illustration of a view of central Oxford, showing The Martyrs' Memorial, Taylor Institution and Randolph Hotel.
