This was a Sir George Gilbert Scott and Moffatt Elizabethan style standard plan building, built between 1838-9. Intended to accommodate 450 inmates, the Poor Law Commissioners authorised the sum of £6,000 on its construction. The main accommodation block was demolished in the late nineteenth century.
