St Peter and St Paul, Barnstaple

This extensive church restoration was started by Sir George Gilbert Scott in 1866 and eventually completed by his son John Oldrid in 1882. The work began with the steeple and south aisle and a refusal to comply with a proposal to demolish the tower. The carving to the arches was completed by Hems.
