St Mary Magdalen, Stoke Talmage

This church was restored by Scott in 1860 at a cost of £1,700. Initially the vicar had wanted to build a new church but this had proved potentially too expensive. Scott said he would make the existing church more ‘church-like’ and the funds were used for the restoration instead. He added a new north aisle, a vestry, south porch and buttresses. Tracery was added to match existing examples and new tiles laid on the floor. The interior was redecorated and ceiling removed. There were new roofs throughout with a new piscina on the north side of the chancel, with a new pulpit, font and stalls.
