Deneke Building, Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford

Designed by Giles Gilbert Scott, who also designed Battersea Power station and the much loved red telephone box, the Deneke Building bears the recognisable hallmarks of Scott's style. Traditional materials and classical elements are fused with the emphatic simplicity of 1930s modernism. The impressive College Dining Hall is situated within this building, reached by a wide corridor lined with fascinating portraits of the many women who helped forge the College of today.
