Christ Church and Vicarage, Nailsea

This church was designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott and Moffatt in 1841-3, for the Rev. Frederick Brown, and built from coursed grey local stone rubble with ashlar dressings and a Welsh slate roof. The builder was Robert Newton of Nailsea. It is in ‘lancet’ style with triple lancets in the east and west end and paired lancets in the nave. Presumably at the same time, they designed the associated two storey vicarage also in local rubble stone with ashlar dressings and a Welsh slate roof, in a Tudor style with gables.
